Origin & history
Bred in 19th-century Yorkshire, England, by textile workers to hunt rats in factories, later becoming a popular lapdog.
Care
Demanding coat care, daily brushing needed for the long coat. Short but regular walks.
Ideal environment
Very well suited to apartments, but sensitive to cold - a coat is useful in winter.
Feeding
Small, frequent portions; favor high-quality food due to a tendency toward a sensitive stomach.
Health
Prone to dental problems, patellar luxation, and tracheal collapse. Dental care is especially important.
