The smallest of the four Swiss mountain dog breeds, originating in the Appenzell region, traditionally used as a herding, guard, and draft dog on farms.

Care

Needs plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation. Short coat, low grooming needs.

Needs a garden and an active family; as a watchdog, tends to be wary of strangers.
